Customs House Photography
Picture this Sydney: the Harbour Bridge lights reflecting in the inky water, the scent of jasmine drifting on a summer breeze, and the click of a camera capturing it all. On a Thursday evening in Surry Hills, your lens becomes your guide, and the iconic Customs House takes centre stage. Forget the mundane; this is your chance to frame history, bathed in the twilight glow, and see the city you love through fresh eyes.
What is it? Customs House Photography is a special, one-off photography walk and workshop facilitated by your mates at *What's In Sydney*. We're gathering a group of lens-wielding enthusiasts, from seasoned shooters to iPhone artists, to explore and capture the architectural grandeur of Customs House. Starting just before sunset, this free event will guide participants through the building's stunning exterior and offer tips and tricks for getting that perfect twilight shot. Our very own *What's In Sydney* ace photographer will be on hand to offer guidance, inspiration, and maybe even a few secrets to making your photos pop. Expect a casual, convivial atmosphere, perfect for networking with fellow shutterbugs and sharing your best frames.
Why go? Beyond the chance to snap some seriously impressive photos of one of Sydney's most beloved landmarks, attending Customs House Photography offers a unique blend of creative expression and urban exploration. This isn't just about point-and-shoot; it's about learning to see the play of light and shadow, the intricate details of colonial architecture, and how to compose a shot that tells a story. Whether you’re dreaming of a dazzling Instagram feed or simply want to improve your photography skills, our expert will help you unlock new perspectives. Imagine capturing the last rays of sun glinting off the sandstone, or the dramatic contrast of the building against the darkening sky. It’s ideal for anyone with a camera – or just a good smartphone – and a desire to connect with Sydney’s artistic pulse.
